Dobies improves to 3-0 as Rocks win in Potomac

Woodbridge, VA--- The Wilmington Blue Rocks returned to their winning ways with a 6-3 come-from-behind win over the Potomac Nationals at Pfitzner Stadium on Tuesday night. Wilmington's win snapped the Nationals season-high, four-game winning streak.

Andrew Dobies (3-0) became the Carolina League's second three-game winner on the year in notching the victory. The 23-year-old allowed three runs on five hits over six innings of work. He walked three and struck out two.

Dobies ran into trouble in the fourth inning after allowing only two base runners over the first three innings. Marvin Lowrence reached on a one-out walk and went first to third on single by Devin Ivany. Dobies than surrendered a three-run home run to Luke Montz, giving the Nationals a 3-0 advantage.

Dobies then allowed a pair of singles and a walk, but managed to work himself out of the inning without allowing another run.

In the fifth, the Rocks sent nine hitters to the plate and scored five runs, all with two outs, to take a 5-3 lead.

Jason Norderum (1-2), who took the loss for the Nationals, walked three straight hitters with two outs and was removed from the game after giving up a run-scoring single to Andrew Pinckney.

Tom Wilson came on and gave up a RBI double to Claudio Arias and then a two-run double Ian Bladergroen.

Norderum allowed four earned runs on only two hits, but he walk six over four and two-thirds innings.

The Rocks added a run in the sixth to take a three-run lead and then Dobies and reliever Kyle Jackson shut down the Nationals offense the rest of the way.

Jackson worked three scoreless innings and allowed only a leadoff walk in the ninth to notch his first save of the year. He struck out three in his stint.

The Rocks and Nationals continue their four-game series on Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Adam Blackley (0-2, 5.84) opposes Potomac's Ricardo Morales (1-0, 1.69).

Game Notes:

Jeff Corsaletti tied a franchise record by walking four times in the game and has reached with a hit or walk in 18 straight games to open the season.

Jacoby Ellsbury went 0-for-3, but he reached with a walk and also was hit by a pitch. Ellsbury is 0-for-12 over his last three games.
