Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release

WINNIPEG, MB - One of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers' unsung heroes in last week's 44-14 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats received some individual praise today.

Left guard Matt Sheridan was named the Rogers CFL Lineman of the Week for Week 8.

The 6-foot-4, 330-pound Sheridan was instrumental in protecting Bombers quarterback Kevin Glenn, who passed for 374 yards and three TDs against the Tabbies. He and the rest of the Bombers O-line also helped RB Charles Roberts rush for three majors.

Sheridan, a Winnipeg native, is in his fifth season with the Bombers. Last season he was named the recipient of the Ed Kotowich Good Guy Award for football ability, team camaraderie and community service.

Meanwhile, SB/KR Keith Stokes was a runner-up for Rogers Offensive Player of the Week for his five-catch, 138 yards receiving effort against Hamilton.

On the other side of the ball, LB Sean Woodson was a runner-up for Defensive Player of the Week for his six tackle, one sack effort against the Ticats.

And finally, S Sean Gallant was a runner-up for Special Teams Player of the Week. Gallant had two special teams tackles, a fumble recovery and a blocked punt in the win over Hamilton.
