Edmonton Elks News Release

(Edmonton) The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announced that import kicker Hayden Epstein has been added to the team's practice roster.

Epstein was selected in the seventh round of the 2002 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was waived by the Jags in October of 2002 and was signed by the Minnesota Vikings where he finished the season. Epstein did not play in 2003, but was signed by the Denver Broncos and allocated to the Berlin Thunder of NFL Europe in 2004. He was released by the Broncos in September of 2004.

A graduate of the University of Michigan, Epstein spent four seasons as a Wolverine (1998-'01) and was good on 26 of 42 field goal attempts including four field goals of 50 yards or more. A candidate for the Lou Groza (NCAA's top place-kicker) and Ray Guy (NCAA's best punter) Awards in 2001, Hayden has also excelled in the classroom, garnering Big Ten Conference academic honors. Of note, Epstein was a teammate of current Eskimo fullback Deitan Dubuc while at Michigan.
