January 2, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release
The American Hockey league announced today the coaches for the 2016 Toyota AHL All-Star Classic, naming Sheldon Keefe head coach for the North Division team.
Keefe, 35, is in his first season as head coach of the Toronto Marlies, guiding the team to a league best 25-7-2-0 (.765) record. This includes a 15-2-1-0 road record, highlighted by a 15 game road point streak, one game shy of the AHL record.
"This achievement for Sheldon speaks to the job he has done developing our very young roster of players and helping to accomplish our goal of maximizing the development of our young athletes and also winning hockey games", said Toronto Marlies General Manager Kyle Dubas. "The award also speaks to the work of our entire coaching staff and the job that Gord Dineen, A.J. MacLean, Piero Greco, and Justin Bourne have done to prepare the players each day".
The remaining three divisions will be represented by; Jay Leach of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (Atlantic), Dean Evason of Milwaukee (Central) and Mike Stothers of Ontario (Pacific).
