Moncton Wildcats News Release
Hurricane Bill caused changes
The schedule for the Wildcats training camp was hit by the winds of Hurricane Bill over the weekend. A Wildcats scrimmage will be held this afternoon from 1:30 to 3:30. The team travels to Cape Breton tomorrow to play Sunday's rescheduled game at 7pm at Centre 200.
Wednesday will be an off day with rookies and veterans meeting on Thursday for a 1:30 to 3:30 pm scrimmage. The Wildcats face the Halifax Mooseheads in an exhibition game on Friday night at the 4-Plex at 7.
One trade and 11 releases:
The Cats made one trade before Sunday's deadline. St. John's, Newfoundland native Zach O'Brien was sent to the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. 11 rookies were released over the weekend, Robert Greene, Julien Daigle, Justin Matthews, Keylon Marchant, Mitchell Taylor, Mitch O'Neill, Evan Bedell, Marc Bourgeois, Cameron Gould, Kendall MacInnis and Samel Cadet.
Players support healthy heart campaign:
Wildcat players gave their support to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation on Saturday morning when the Foundation held an Awareness Day at the Trinity Drive Atlantic Superstore. The Wildcats are always prepared to help worthwhile community organizations, priding itself on being, "Your Community Team."
Did Snowbirds salute Cats?
Could it be that Canada's famous flying team, the Snowbirds, may have been saluting our Moncton Wildcats, (who have the same team colors), when they did a zooming formation flight over the 4-Plex on Friday afternoon? One thing is certain; the Snowbirds had fans looking up, way up, with their precision fly-past.
Big plans for home opening weekend:
Action is lurking behind the scenes as the Wildcats prepare for their home opening weekend September 18th - 20th. The word is it's going to be a blockbuster event. A fund raising celebrity dunk tank is rumored to be in the making, just who the celebrities will be is not known. If you have a suggestion, send it to the Wildcats at info@monctonwildcats.com .
Today's player pick
In the Cats Coffee Cup today are the Saulnier twins of Cap Pele. Alex and Allain are seventeen year olds who have played their entire minor hockey together on the same line. They insisted on being drafted by the same Q team. The pair turned heads with their quick play at last week's Wildcats rookie training camp and accounted for nine points in the rookie exhibition game against Cape Breton.
A quote to sip on: "Every success is built on the ability to do better than good enough."
