Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

The Lewiston MAINEiacs have announced the completion of two trades. The deals come just hours before Sunday night's deadline to trade non-European players aged 16-19.

Lewiston acquired 20-year old forward Samuel Grenache from the Montreal Junior in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick in 2011. Terms of the draft pick could change based on the outcome of other possible transactions. Grenache registered six goals, two assists in 18 games last season for Montreal. He has also suited up for the St. John's Fog Devils and Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

"Samuel is a first-line player, who brings some grit and toughness to the team," said MAINEiacs General Manager Roger Shannon. "He will add some depth to our forwards, and he is really excited about coming to play in Lewiston."

In a second deal completed Sunday evening, the MAINEiacs traded defenseman Dany Coulombe (Pictured) to the Quebec Remparts. In return the MAINEiacs receive a fifth-round draft pick in 2010. The deal now gives Lewiston five fifth-round picks in next year's draft. As a rookie last season, Coulombe finished with three assists, and amassed 64 penalty minutes in 48 games played. He now becomes the fifth MAINEiacs player to be dealt to Quebec this offseason.

The MAINEiacs next preseason game is with division rival Shawinigan on the road Friday evening. The two teams will meet again at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee on Sunday afternoon. Faceoff is set for 4:00 p.m. The MAINEiacs home opener is September 18, against Baie-Comeau. Tickets may be purchased at the Colisee box office, or by calling (207) 783-2009.
