Severson, Martensson lead Ducks past Phantoms 5-3

PHILADELPHIA, Pa -- Cam Severson had two goals and an assist, and Tony Martensson scored the go-ahead goal to lead the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks to a 5-3 win against the Philadelphia Phantoms Wednesday at the Wachovia Center.

Mike Mottau added a goal and an assist and Cory Pecker and Joel Stepp each chipped in with a pair of assists to help Cincinnati win for the fourth time in five games.

Martensson's goal, his second of the season, came with 1:45 remaining in the second period to give the Ducks a 4-3 lead. Martensson now has points in five of his last six games, recording two goals and five assists in that stretch.

Eddy Ferhi stopped 34 shots, including all 10 that he faced in the third period, to record his first victory of the season.

The win was only the third for the Ducks in 22 games in Philadelphia against the Phantoms (3-16-2-1).

Ian MacNeil, Kirby Law and Patrick Sharp scored for Philadelphia, which lost its second straight game and fell to 3-6-1-1 in its last 11.

Neil Little, who entered the game 13-2-2 in 18 career games against Cincinnati, surrendered four goals on 19 shots before being pulled in favor of Antero Niittymaki in the third period.

The Ducks and Phantoms complete a two-game series Friday at 7:05 p.m. at the Wachovia Spectrum.
