Seven Travs Named Texas League All-Stars

Dickey-Stephens Park, North Little Rock, AR - Seven Arkansas Travelers players have been voted to take part in the 2007 Texas League All-Star Game in Corpus Christi, Texas. 2B Adam Morrissey and 3B Freddy Sandoval will each start for the North Division at their respective positions. C Bobby Wilson and SS Sean Rodriguez have been named to the North All-Star reserves. Four Travelers pitchers were voted All Stars including RHP Nick Adenhart, RHP Jose Arredondo, RHP Nick Green and LHP Daniel Davidson. Davidson will not be able to participate in the game as he continues to rehab from a shoulder injury. The 2007 Texas League All-Star Game will be played at Whataburger Field, the home of the Corpus Christi Hooks, on Tuesday, June 26. Fans can watch the game on a tape delayed broadcast on FOX Sports Southwest on Wednesday, June 27.

Morrissey and Sandoval both currently rank amongst the Texas League leaders in batting average and on-base percentage. Morrissey holds a .408 OBP, second in the league, and the tenth highest batting average at .293. Sandoval is batting .300, ninth highest, and is reaching base at a .403 clip, fifth highest. Rodriguez is batting .266 with a team-high six home runs and 27 RBI. Wilson, who missed most of May with a back injury, is currently hitting .254 with five home runs and 15 RBI. Wilson is second amongst catchers in the league throwing out 51.5% of base stealers.

The Travs pitching staff boasts four pitchers on the North Division All Star Team including three starting pitchers. Adenhart and Green are tied for the team lead with five wins. Adenhart sports a 3.44 ERA (9th) and 53 strikeouts. Green leads the club and is second in the league with 83.0 innings pitched to go along with a 4.01 ERA and 56 strikeouts. Davidson, out since May 22 with two small tears in his left shoulder, held one of the Texas League's lowest ERA's at 2.06 over his first seven starts before the injury. He is currently in Tempe, Arizona rehabbing the inujry and will not be available to pitch in the All-Star Game. Arredondo's ten saves leads the Travs and ranks fifth in the league. He also had struck out 28 batters in 25 innings.
