Evansville, IN -Seven proved to be the lucky number for the Lake Erie Crushers on Friday night as a seven-run third inning helped them cruise past Evansville by the final of 8-3 at Bosse Field.

The Crushers scored all seven runs with two outs in the inning as Jodam Rivera and Drew Saylor started the hit parade with singles and both would score on Andrew Davis' two-run double. Tyler Johnson brought home Davis with an RBI double of his own to give the Crushers a 3-0 lead. After Otters starter Dustin Renfrow walked Tim Binkoski, Eddie Tisdale delivered an RBI single to score Johnson to give Lake Erie a 4-0 lead. Arden McWilliams then followed with a run scoring single to plate Binkoski and then Wayne Bond concluded the outburst with a two run single to give the Crushers a 7-0 edge. "You don't see an inning like that too often," said Crushers manager John Massarelli afterwards. "A lot of times, this team is able to bunch hits together like that and that's why we lead the league in runs scored."

The seven runs were all Crushers starter Alberto Rolon would need as he worked six solid innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with two walks and two strikeouts to run his record to 2-1. "He did a nice job attacking the zone early in the game," said Massarelli. "He ran into a bit of a rough spot in the fifth but came back and made some big pitches to get out of trouble."

Evansville scored their two fifth inning runs on an RBI single by Kenny Gilbert and a fielder's choice by former Crusher Luke Hetherington. Lake Erie tacked on a run in the eighth on a fielder's choice grounder by rookie Scott McIlvain, his first professional RBI. The Otters completed the scoring in the ninth with Jeremy Strack scored on a passed ball by Kylee Hash.

The Crushers improve to 45-31 on the season and will continue their three game series with the Otters on Saturday evening at Bosse Field. Lake Erie has yet to announce their starter for the game but Evansville is expected to have lefty Andrew Werner on the mound.
