Clinton LumberKings News Release

Beloit, WI - The LumberKings wasted little time getting used to Polhman Field on Friday night as they scored seven runs in the top of the first inning on their way to a 9-4 win over the Beloit Snappers. The outburst in the first included run-scoring hits from Dario Pizzano, Patrick Kivlehan, Gaby Guerrero, Brock Hebert and Jabari Henry. They chased Beloit starter Derek DeYoung after just 2/3 of an inning. Despite being staked to the 7-0 lead, LumberKings' starter Charles Kaalekahi couldn't get through five innings. The Snappers scored a run in the second on Renato Nunez's solo home run. They added three more in the third to cut the lead to 7-4 and bring an end to Kaalekahi's night. Clinton turned to Mark Bordonaro to make his LumberKings debut. He calmly threw two scoreless innings and struck out three. The right-hander earned the win for Clinton. Bordonaro turned it over to lefty Blake Holovach who followed with his own two scoreless frames. Grady Wood was summoned from the 'pen and worked the eighth and ninth. In all, the trio out of the bullpen combined for six scoreless innings in the series-opening win. The set continues on Saturday in Beloit as Clinton sends left-hander Anthony Vasquez (0-1, 3.60) to the mound against Beloit right-hander Austin House (1-4, 3.38). First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM CT.
