Clinton, IA - The Peoria Chiefs led from the start and beat the Clinton LumberKings 4-0 Thursday night in an emotionally charged series finale. The win puts the Chiefs at 35-29 with three games left in the first half this weekend in Cedar Rapids.

The Chiefs rallied with two outs in the first to take an early lead against Scott DeCecco. Jacob Wilson walked and Jordan Walton singled to put two on. Walton beat the throw to second as Schaffer loaded the bases on a fielders' choice. Patrick Wisdom singled home two with the bases full for an early 2-0 Chiefs lead.

Peoria added on in the third and fifth against DeCecco. Ildemaro Vargas doubled and moved to third on a wild pitch to start the third. Wilson brought him home with a sacrifice fly for a 3-0 Chiefs lead. In the fifth Jesus Montero and Breyvic Valera connected on consecutive doubles for a 4-0 lead before DeCecco escaped a two-on, nobody out jam.

Kyle Helisek was in control all night long against the LumberKings. In his third start in less than a month against Clinton, Helisek allowed just one runner past second base. He induced two double plays and recorded his last five outs via the strikeout.

Clinton's Oliver Garcia hit Wilson in the head in the top of the ninth. The Chiefs second baseman was on the ground for a few moments before walking off under his own power and leaving the game. The Chiefs retaliated in the bottom of the inning as Thomas Lee threw behind leadoff batter Gaby Guerrero. Lee and Chiefs manager Dann Bilardello were ejected as the benches emptied but no punches were thrown. After the two teams screamed at each other in front of the Clinton dugout, Robert Stock replaced Lee on the mound. Stock gave up two hits but got two strikeouts and a caught stealing to preserve the win.

Helisek (5-2) picked up his team-leading fifth win with six shutout innings. He allowed five hits and three walks while striking out a career-high eight. Joe Donofrio allowed two hits over two shutout innings while striking out two. Stock struck out two and allowed two hits in one shutout inning in a non-save situation.
