West Michigan Whitecaps News Release

The West Michigan Whitecaps grabbed a 3-0 lead early on Saturday night before the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers scored seven straight runs and went on to beat the Whitecaps, 7-2, in Wisconsin. The victory gives the Rattlers a two-games-to-one lead over the 'Caps in the series.

The Whitecaps, who had won six of their previous eight games, got off to a great start with a run in the first inning and two in the second for a 3-0 lead.

'Caps starter Jordan Tata (1-5) was touched for a three-run homer in the second to tie the score. The Rattlers then scored one in the third and three in the fifth to take control.

Tony Giarratano had his third straight two-hit game and Juan Francia extended his hitting streak to eight games to pace the 'Caps offense.

The two teams will now conclude their series with a Sunday afternoon game at 2:05 Michigan time. Following Sunday's game, the Whitecaps will play four straight games in Lansing against the Lugnuts starting on Monday night.
