September 19, 2021 - Double-A Northeast League (AA Northeast) - Portland Sea Dogs News Release

THREE-IN-A-ROW - The Portland Sea Dogs won their third-consecutive game last night, 12-5 over the Hartford Yard Goats. Devlin Granberg finished the night four-for- five with two doubles and a grand slam. He drove home five runs and scored two. Casas connected for his 13th home run of the year, his fourth long ball at Dunkin' Donuts Park this season. Rio Gomez was awarded the win, tossing 1.0 inning allowing one run on two hits. Until tonight, Gomez had not allowed a run since July 8th and had tossed 24.0 innings with 27 strikeouts. With Pedro Castellanos at first base, Triston Casas crushed

a two-run home run in the top of the third inning and the Sea Dogs took the 3-2 lead. The Sea Dogs would then plate five more runs in the top of the sixth inning. Tyreque Reed was hit by a pitch then Grant Williams singled to right field. Pedro Castellanos then drew a walk to load the bases. Casas then drew a bases loaded walk to bring home Reed and Portland led, 6-4. Devlin Granberg then demolished a grand slam to the second-deck in right field and the Sea Dogs led, 10-4. It was Granberg's first grand slam of the season and 10th home run of the year.

FOR THE FINAL TIME IN 2021 - The Portland Sea Dogs and Hartford Yard Goats will conclude the 2021 season today at 1:05pm. The Sea Dogs are chasing their fourth- consecutive victory in what has been a historic year for the club. Portland recorded a new franchise record winning streak (14 games) and ended just a couple games shy of the Northeast League Championship Series.

THE STREAK COMES TO AN END - Rio Gomez gave up his first run since July 8th last night to the Yard Goats. Gomez did not allow a run from July 8th to September 16th, spanning 16 games. He tossed 24.0 innings in that time allowing 14 hits while walking six and striking out 27. Gomez held opposing batters to a .173 batting average.

FRANK GERMAN...THE NEXT CLOSER? - German has come out of the bullpen twice this week against the Yard Goats and has been stellar. As a reliever, German is 0-0 with a 1.13 ERA in six games, but is 2-for-2 in save opportunities. He has tossed 8.0 innings allowing just one run (it was a home run) on four hits while walking one and striking out 11. As a starter, German is 3-9 with a 5.72 ERA in eight starts. He has tossed 76.1 innings allowing 47 earned runs on 95 hits while walking 29 and striking out 61

PEDRO CASTELLANOS LIKES TO LEAD OFF - Pedro Castellanos has hit lead off for the Sea Dogs each game this week and has reached base in the first inning of every game. He has reached once via a leadoff walk and twice with leadoff singles. Castellanos reached on a fielding error by the Yard Goats on Wednesday night. Despite reaching base each game in the first inning, the Sea Dogs have only allowed him to score once.

ON THE MOUND - RHP Victor Santos will take the mound for the final game of the season this afternoon. He last pitched 9/14 at Hartford and tossed 6.0 innings allowing one run (unearned) on two hits while striking out five. He did not walk a batter. Santos has not issued a walk in last two appearances (7.0 innings).
