
Ponies Blanked by Fightins in Season Finale

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (47-60) fell to the Reading Fightin Phils 4-0 in the final game of the 2021 regular season at Mirabito Stadium Sunday night.
Reading (48-65) scored a pair of runs in the first and third innings. In the first, after Dalton Guthrie singled and Josh Stephen doubled, Logan O'Hoppe hit an RBI groundout to put the Fightins on the board. After a walk to Brock Stassi, Grenny Cumana hit an RBI single that made it 2-0.
In the third, after an infield single by O'Hoppe to start the inning, Stassi drove a two-run homer over the right field wall to make it 4-0. Stassi finished 2-3 with a walk.
Fightins starter Hans Crouse (2-2) allowed four hits over six innings with one walk and nine strikeouts. Ponies starter Justin Lasko (1-4) allowed four runs over five and two third innings. Dustin Beggs pitched three and a third innings of scoreless relief. The Ponies bullpen allowed only one run over 23 innings the whole series. Reading reliever David Parkinson earned his first save of the year with three perfect innings in relief.
After hitting his first home run at the Double-A level on Saturday night, Ponies SS Ronny Mauricio was 2-4 on Sunday.
The Rumble Ponies will open their 2022 season on Friday April 8th on the road against the Hartford Yard Goats. The home opener will be on Tuesday April 12th against the Bowie Bay Sox.
