Harrisburg Senators News Release

Trenton, NJ - The Harrisburg Senators took their fifth straight loss, a 6-1 tally to the Trenton Thunder, Wednesday at Waterfront Park. The Senators managed just four hits as the offense struggled once again.

The Senators' opposition scored first for the 12th straight game, this time with a run in the 1st inning. Reegie Corona drew a leadoff walk, went to third when Francisco Cervelli reached on an error and scored on a double play to make it 1-0.

In the 3rd, Corona ripped a one-out double to left-center and stole third base. After a walk put runners at first and third, Austin Jackson hit what looked to be an inning-ending double-play ball, but the ball was booted and Corona scored to make it 2-0.

The Senators got on the board in the top of the 5th when Bill Rhinehart clubbed a solo homer to right field to cut it to a 2-1 deficit.

Trenton came right back in the 6th with three runs of its own against relief RHP Carlos Martinez. Colin Curtis hit a leadoff single and P.J. Pilittere followed with a two-run homer to make it 4-1. Two batters later, Kevin Russo doubled. Corona then ripped a two-out RBI single to push the deficit to 5-1.

Another insurance run came in the bottom of the 8th for Trenton. Edwar Gonzalez and Kevin Russo hit back-to-back singles to lead off, then Walter Ibarra stroked an RBI single to plate Gonzalez and make it 6-1.

LHP Tim Bittner (2-5) took the loss despite tossing five strong innings in a spot start. Trenton RHP Eric Hacker fired six innings to pick up the win and move to 7-3.

The Senators dropped to 68-63. Trenton improved to 79-50.

The Senators and Thunder finish the three-game series Thursday at 7:05 PM. RHP Bobby Brownlie (8-3, 4.00 ERA) takes on Trenton RHP Jason Jones (12-5, 2.89 ERA).
