Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - RHP Marco Estrada, who opened this season with the Harrisburg Senators, delivered two scoreless innings in his major-league debut Wednesday night for the Washington Nationals against the Philadelphia Phillies. Estrada was promoted to Washington on Monday.

Estrada, 25, went 6-3 with a 2.66 ERA in 13 starts as a Senator. He came on Wednesday night in relief of another former Senator, RHP Collin Balester, who played in Harrisburg last year.

The right-hander entered in the 7th inning and gave up a leadoff single to Chris Coste. With pitcher Brett Myers at the plate, Coste was caught stealing second base. Estrada then struck out Myers and got Jimmy Rollins to ground out to end the inning.

In the 8th, Estrada struck out Jayson Werth swinging. Then he fooled Chase Utley with a changeup, but Utley dumped a double down the left-field line. Ryan Howard popped out and Pat Burrell grounded out to end the inning.

The Nationals lost the game, 4-0, to the Phillies. It was Washington's 12th straight loss.

Estrada becomes the second Senator from the 2008 Opening Day roster to be promoted to make his major-league debut this season. OF Roger Bernadina made his debut on June 29th and singled in his first at-bat. He played in a total of ten games with the Nationals before being optioned to Columbus.

The Senators are currently on a season-long ten-game road trip. They return to Commerce Bank Park this Friday, August 22nd against the Portland Sea Dogs (Double-A Boston Red Sox). Game time Friday is set for 6:35 PM. Only seven home games remain on the 2008 regular-season schedule!
