Harrisburg Senators News Release

One night after the Harrisburg Senators scored four runs in the ninth inning to notch a comeback victory over the Altoona Curve, the Sens were shut out by Curve pitching, and fell at Metro Bank Park by a final score of 3-0. Jeff Locke (1-0), Tony Watson, and Derek Hankins combined on the shutout for Altoona.

The Curve (56-35) got on the board early in the ballgame, scoring a single run in the first inning off of Sens starter Ross Detwiler. The run came within the first two batters, as Chase d'Arnaud led off the game with a double, and then Gorkys Hernandez singled him home. Another d'Arnaud run in the third made it 2-0, after Josh Harrison's single drove him in. In the seventh, a wild pitch by Chuck James allowed Miles Durham to score Altoona's third and final run.

Detwiler (1-2) took the loss for the Sens (45-48), despite allowing just one earned run in five innings of work. Hankins picked up his fourth save for the Curve. The Sens managed six hits in the ballgame, including two apiece from Edgardo Baez and Chris Marrero. Jesus Valdez and Detwiler recorded the other two hits. Detwiler is hitting .500 on the season, with three hits in six at-bats.

The win for Altoona evens the four-game series at one, after the Sens took game one in walkoff fashion on Thursday, 9-7. Game three is scheduled for Saturday night at 7 PM, with LHP John Lannan (1-2, 4.45) starting for the Sens against RHP Bryan Morris (4-4, 4.19) of Altoona. Radio coverage on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com begins at 6:45.
