Warren Assigned To Trenton, Smith Released

(TRENTON, NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees announced today that they have received RHP Adam Warren from High-A Tampa and have released INF Kevin Smith from the organization.

Warren, 22, made 15 starts for the Tampa Yankees, going 7-5 with a 2.22 ERA in 81 innings of work. The UNC Chapel Hill graduate struck out 67 batters and walked just 17 during his stay with Tampa. Warren was selected by the Yankees in the fourth round of the 2009 June Draft, where he went on to start 12 games for Short-Season Single-A Staten Island, going 4-2 with with a 1.43 ERA.

After undergoing wrist surgery in the off-season, Smith hit .168 with 5 RBI for the Thunder in 131 at-bats. In 2009, Smith hit a combined .287 with 3 HR and 43 RBI in 111 games for High-A Tampa and Trenton. He was originally selected by the Yankees out of the University of Oklahoma in the 39th round of the 2006 June Draft.

The Thunder play the second game of a four game series tonight at Waterfront Park against The Reading Phillies starting at 7:05 PM.
