Harrisburg Senators News Release

Despite a strong start by Joe Ross, the Harrisburg Senators could not hold its one-run lead in a 3-1 loss to the New Britain Rock Cats on Wednesday afternoon at New Britain Stadium. The loss was Harrisburg's fifth consecutive defeat. All three runs the Senators allowed Wednesday were unearned as Harrisburg made a season-high four errors and had a passed ball.

Ross continued his outstanding pitching of late as he threw six innings in which he needed just 88 pitches. Ross allowed a run in the bottom of the sixth inning, but it was unearned. The big right-hander surrendered just two hits while walking three and striking out seven hitters. Abel De Los Santos pitched a scoreless seventh inning, but was victimized by two errors on one play that permitted a runner to score from first in the eighth inning. Another Rock Cat run crossed when Bryan Harper relieved De Los Santos and a passed ball got away from Pedro Severino.

The Senators lone run came in the sixth inning when Harrisburg loaded the bases with one out. Although the Senators didn't score the run with one out, a wild pitch allowed Mario Lisson to score with two down, giving Harrisburg a 1-0 lead. Harrisburg finished with seven hits from seven different players. However, the Senators did not have an extra-base hit and were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. Kevin Keyes was the only Senator to reach twice as he singled and walked in four plate appearances. Lisson and Matt Skole both stole their first bases of the 2015 season in the defeat.

The Senators are off Thursday, but return home Friday to begin a series with the Altoona Curve. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m. The game can be heard starting with the pregame show at 6:15 p.m. on Fox Sports 1460am, iHeart Radio, and on Tune In.
