Altoona Curve News Release
CURVE, Pa. - The Altoona Curve lost their third straight game to the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Wednesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field, 4-1. Richmond pitching held Altoona to just six hits and 0-for-6 on chances with runners in scoring position.
The Curve (15-9) have lost three in a row for the first time this season, while the Flying Squirrels (6-17) improved to 4-1 against Altoona this year.
Richmond opened a 3-0 lead in the first inning against Curve starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow (Loss, 2-1). After RBIs from Mac Williamson and Ricky Oropesa, Curve left fielder Willy Garica dropped a two-out fly ball from Myles Schroder to allow a third run to score.
In the third inning, Glasnow singled for his first professional hit and scored later in the frame on a fielder's choice groundout by Josh Bell.
Glasnow was removed from the game prior to the fourth with right ankle discomfort after sliding into second while running the bases. He pitched three innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits with no walks and four strikeouts.
Richmond added a fourth run in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Schroder.
Richmond starting pitcher Jack Snodgrass (Win, 2-3) worked six innings and allowed one run on four hits with six strikeouts and a walk. Reliever Jose Casilla (Save, 1) pitched a scoreless ninth to close the game.
Second baseman Max Moroff went 2-for-3 with a walk to extend his on-base streak to a team-high 22 games. He has hit safely in six straight games and 15 of his last 16 games overall.
The Curve look to avoid the sweep on Thursday morning at PNG Field. Right-hander Angel Sanchez (2-0, 1.00) will be on the mound for Altoona, with lefty Matt Lujan (0-2, 4.35) pitching for Richmond.
Thursday is a Thirsty Thursday, featuring specials on 16 oz. Yuengling and regular sodas for $2. Also, college students can bring their college ID to the ballpark for a $5 grandstand ticket to the game. First pitch is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
