Akron RubberDucks News Release

Bowie center fielder Glynn Davis cracked a game-winning, solo home run to left field in the bottom of the 11th inning Wednesday night, lifting the Baysox to a 7-6 victory over the Akron RubberDucks at Prince George's Stadium.

Turning Point

Davis, who entered the game hitting a robust .315, led off the bottom of the 11th against Jacob Lee (1-3) and drilled a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence to win the game. It was his first homer of the season, and just his second at the AA level.

Mound Presence

Lee was tagged with his second straight extra-inning loss. He also gave up a game-winning sacrifice fly in a 5-4 loss in the 18th inning at Trenton last Friday. Bowie righthander Ken Kasparek (2-0) earned the win with four hitless innings of relief. He walked none and struck out two. RubberDucks starter Will Roberts allowed six runs in the first two innings of the game, but managed to regroup and last six innings before departing with a tie score.

Duck Tales

Veteran outfielder Destin Hood made his Akron debut after being transferred from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday. He collected hits in his first three at-bats, and finished 3-5, on the night. He doubled and scored in the second inning, and then drove in two runs with another double in the third. The RubberDucks (12-14) tied the game in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Tyler Naquin and an RBI double by Todd Hankins. The double extended Hankins's hitting streak to nine games.
