New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats defeated the Harrisburg Senators (Washington Nationals affiliate) 3-1 Wednesday afternoon completing a 3-game sweep in front of 5,766 fans at New Britain Stadium. The victory was New Britain's 6th consecutive, matching a season-high as the Rock Cats swept the entire 6-game homestand for the first time in 13 years (July 15-21, 2002). The Rock Cats are in first place in the Eastern League's Eastern Division at 19-7 and off to their best home start in club history at 12-1.

Left-handed pitcher Ryan Carpenter pitched the first innings for the Rock Cats and allowed only one run on a wild pitch while Senators starter Joe Ross permitted just one hit over the first five innings. New Britain tied the game in the 6th inning on a 2-out RBI infield single by David Dahl scoring Tyler Massey.

The Rock Cats took advantage of two errors on one play to take their first lead in the 8th inning. Tony Renda and Matt Scole's throwing errors on a 1-out ground ball by Tyler Massey scored Mike Tauchman from first base giving the Rock Cats a 2-1 lead. Brian Harper then threw a wild pitch scoring Tyler Massey from third base to make it 3-1. The Senators committed 4 errors in the game.

Austin House pitched a scoreless 9th inning to record his Eastern League leading 10th save in 11 chances. Jason Gurka got the win for New Britain, improving to 2-0. Abel De Los Santos was the losing pitcher falling to 1-3.

The Rock Cats are off on Thursday and begin a two-city 6-game road trip Friday in Portland, Maine. All the broadcasts can be heard on Fox Sports Radio 1410.
