Harrisburg Senators News Release

On Tuesday evening in Binghamton, the Senators took a pair from the Binghamton Mets, game two with an amazing seventh-inning comeback to move their record to 33-23 on the season. It was the third doubleheader sweep in a row for the Senators. Harrisburg is now 3-2 on their seven-game road trip. With the two losses, Binghamton falls to 18-38 on the season.

The Sens trailed game two 4-0 into the fifth inning when Bill Rhinehart hit a pinch-hit two run home run (11th) to cut the lead in half. Trailing 5-2 into the seventh inning, Devin Ivany and Alex Valdez hit back-to-back doubles putting runners at second and third. Jonathan Tucker and Rhinehart followed with sacrifice flies to make the score 5-4 B-Mets. After a single by Steve Lombardozzi, pinch hitter Derek Norris unloaded on a 3-2 pitch for a pinch-hit home run (9th) giving the Sens a 6-5 lead. Chris Rahl followed with his first home run of the season pushing the Sens lead to 7-5. The B-Mets would score a run in the last of the seventh off of Carlos Martinez before Patrick McCoy struck out Salomon Manriquez to end the game. The save was the third this year for McCoy.

Steve Lombardozzi had three hits in game number two. Cory VanAllen earned the win pitching two innings in relief of Garrett Mock and allowing just one unearned run.

In game one, the Senators trailed 2-1 into the fourth inning when Bill Rhinehart hit a two-run home run giving the Sens a 3-2 lead. After the B-Mets tied the game, the Sens scored three times in the seventh with the benefit of six walks to take a 6-3 lead into the last of the seventh inning. The B-Mets scored twice before Zech Zinicola retired the final batter for his third save on the season. Ryan Tatusko pitched a scoreless inning in relief to pick up his second win on the season.

Brad Peacock started game one and was touched for five hits and three runs in five innings. He also struck out nine and walked two.

Uncharacteristically the Senators committed three errors in the doubleheader, one in game one and two in game two.

Game three of the four-game series is Wednesday night at 6:35 p.m. with RH Erik Davis on the hill for the Sens. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Sens website and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:20 p.m.
