CURVE, Pa. - Behind a solid effort at the plate, the Altoona Curve snapped a three-game losing streak as they doubled up the Erie SeaWolves in game one of a three game series at Blair County Ballpark by the score of 10-5 on Tuesday night.

The Curve got on the board first in the first inning on SeaWolves starter Mark Sorensen (5-3) as Brock Holt led the game off with a smash double to the wall in center, setting the tone for the rest of the game. With one down and Holt on third, Jordy Mercer lined a single to left for the game's first run and Mercer was then brought in on a single by Matt Curry to take an early 2-0 lead.

After two scoreless to start the game for Altoona starter Jeff Locke, the Curve added to their lead with superb two-out hitting in the second. After a walk by Tony Sanchez, Kris Watts doubled to place runners on second and third with no one down in the inning, however, they would remain there after back-to-back outs. With two down, Starling Marte, singled to score a run, Watts would then score on a wild pitch before Mercer hit his eleventh home run of the season, the third in his last two games, to make it a four-run inning and a 6-0 lead.

In the third, the SeaWolves cut the lead to 6-2 with a pair of unearned runs before Watts hit his second home run in as many games, a solo shot to right, to extend the lead to five at 7-2 in the bottom of the inning.

In the fourth, Erie got a leadoff double from Francisco Martinez, who later scored on a sacrifice fly to make it 7-3, which was the lone earned run of the day allowed by Locke. The Curve starter went six innings and allowed three runs, one earned with eight strikeouts and no walks. Locke (5-5) boosts his record to an even .500 on the year and has now won each of his last three starts.

The Curve were not done scoring as Curry doubled with one down in the fifth and was brought home on a single by Sanchez to make it 8-3, however, the Curve would run into trouble in the seventh.

With Tim Alderson on in relief of Locke, he allowed a one-out single before walking three straight, including a walk to Justin Henry to bring in a run to make it 8-4. Alderson exited the ballgame leaving the bases loaded with one out and Michael Dubee was summoned from the bullpen. Dubee got Rawley Bishop to ground the ball to third where Jeremy Farrell made a diving stop and threw to first from his knees in time for the second out. He then ended the inning with a strikeout of Martinez to hold the lead.

The Curve added two more runs of insurance in the eighth as Brad Chalk tripled in Watts, and Holt singled in Chalk from third. All told, the Curve had 13 hits, six for extra bases.

The Curve (29-28) and SeaWolves (27-29) will match up for the second of three games on Wednesday at 7 p.m. For the Curve, they'll send RHP Bryan Morris (1-2, 2.93) to the hill and he will be opposed by LHP Casey Crosby (3-2, 2.82).

Wednesday's game will feature People's Natural Gas Customer Appreciation Night as select regional customers of Peoples will be able to use a postcard that was mailed to them for two complimentary tickets to the game. It's also a Ponderosa Four-Pack Wednesday where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four regular sodas all for $30 thanks to Ponderosa Steakhouses. Wednesday's contest will also feature the second What We're Watching Wednesday as the Curve will parody the alphabet soup of crime dramas with the appropriately titled: "NCIS/CSI: Curve, PA - Law & Order SVU".

Game time is set for 7 p.m. with gates to Blair County Ballpark opening at 6 p.m. Great seats for the ballgame are still available by calling the Curve at 877.99.CURVE or by visiting the official website of the Curve www.AltoonaCurve.com.
