SeaWolves Manager Chris Cron's Sons Both Drafted

June 7, 2011 - Eastern League (EL1)
Erie SeaWolves News Release

(Erie, PA) - Erie SeaWolves manager Chris Cron was the proud father of two high draft picks in the 2011 MLB First Year Player Draft.

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim selected his oldest son, C.J., a junior at the University of Utah in the first round, 17th overall on Monday night. This afternoon, the Seattle Mariners selected his youngest son, a senior from Mountain Pointe HS (Arizona) with the second pick of the third round (92 overall).

"It was the absolute most amazing experience any baseball father can go through," Cron said, "It was the proudest two days in my life and I am really glad that it's over."

The elder Cron himself was a member of the Angels organization where he made his Major League debut in 1991. He surprised his two sons by making the trip back to Arizona to be with them on draft day.

The SeaWolves begin a six-game road trip tonight at Altoona, 7:00 first pitch. Erie returns home on Tuesday, June 14 to take on the Portland Sea Dogs (Boston Red Sox).
