
Fedroff Named May Player of the Month

Portland, ME The Eastern League is pleased to announce that Akron Aeros outfielder Tim Fedroff has been selected as the Eastern League Player of the Month for the month of May. Tim had an outstanding month for the Aeros, batting .412 (42-for-102) with eight doubles, two triples, 20 RBI, 18 runs scored, 10 walks and four stolen bases in 26 games. The 24-year old had at least one hit in 24 of the 26 games he played in during the month, including putting together a 20-game hitting streak from May 4th through May 27th. He hit .468 with 18 RBI and 16 runs scored during the streak, which is the longest hitting streak by an Eastern League player this season. Tim, who is a native of Flagtown, New Jersey, led all Eastern League players in batting average (.412), on-base percentage (.465) and hits (42) during the month of May. He was also ranked among the monthly league leaders in OPS (.994-4th), RBI (20-tied 5th), triples (2-tied 7th) and total bases (54-tied 10th).
Fedroff has been one of the top performers in the Eastern League this season, posting a league-best .362 batting average to go along with nine doubles, three triples, two homers, 30 RBI, 30 runs scored and five stolen bases in 52 games for the Aeros this season. He is also leading the league in hits (71) and is ranked third in on-base percentage (.412). The 5'11", 220 lb. slugger was also named the Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of May 16th-22nd.
Tim was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the seventh round of the 2008 draft after hitting .404 with 12 home runs, 78 runs scored and 71 RBI in 67 games during his sophomore season at the University of North Carolina.
Other players receiving strong consideration for the Eastern League Player of the Month Award in May were Harrisburg right-handed starter Brad Peacock (4-0, 2.37 ERA, 54 K, 38.0 IP) and New Hampshire right-handed starter Joel Carreno (4-0, 1.14 ERA, 41 K, 31.2 IP).
