
Senators sweep two from Altoona

On Saturday evening in Altoona, the Harrisburg took two from the Curve by the scores of 6-3 and 4-3 to run their winning streak to five games. With the wins, the Senators are a season best 11 games over .500 at 39-28 while Altoona falls to 33-35.
Brad Peacock went the distance in game one, earning his eighth win of the year against two loses. He allowed three runs on four hits while striking out seven. After Altoona took a 1-0 in the first, the Sens scored five unanswered runs to take a 5-1 lead into the last of the sixth inning. Chris Rahl and Tyler Moore both had two hits in the game and Archie Gilbert blasted his ninth home run on the season. Moore had two doubles in the game to raise give him 20 for the year.
In game two, Carlos Martinez made the spot start for the Sens. He allowed the first two Curve to reach and then served up a three-run home run off the bat of Jordy Mercer giving Altoona a 3-0 lead. But that's all the runs the Curve would score for the game.
Harrisburg started the comeback with a solo home run from Alex Valdez in the second, then Jonathan Tucker trimmed the lead further when he advanced to third on a wild pitch then scored when the throw to third went into left field. In the fourth, Tucker tripled in Gilbert to tie the game then Martinez hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Tucker with the lead run.
Martinez pitched four strong innings then turned the ballgame over to Rafael Martin, who went two innings and allowed just a hit. Martin earned his first win of the season in the game. Zech Zinicola struck out the side in the last of the seventh for his fourth save on the season.
The final game of the Sens seven-game road trip and four-game series in Altoona is Sunday at 6:00 p.m. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 5:45 p.m. The Sens send RH Erik Arnesen to the hill looking for their sixth straight win and a four-game sweep of the Curve.
