Mike McDade 2 HR, 5 RBI as Fisher Cats blast Erie 14-1

(Erie, PA)-Mike McDade hit two home runs and drove in five runs and Chad Beck picked up his sixth win as the Fisher Cats rolled to a 14-1 win over Erie on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park.

Beck (6-2) worked the first six innings, allowing five hits and one run (unearned). He walked four and struck out three.

The Fisher Cats (41-26), winners of four of five on the roadtrip, would give Beck all the runs he would need in the top of the first inning. The first five to come to the plate reached safely and all scored. Adeiny Hechavarria (3-for-6, 2 R, RBI) reached on an error and Anthony Gose walked. Travis d'Arnaud (2-for-4, 2 RBI) singled, scoring Hechavarria and when the ball got by the right fielder and rolled to the wall, Gose scored and d'Arnaud took second. Mike McDade doubled to drive in a run and Danny Perales homered to give the Fisher Cats a 5-0 lead.

New Hampshire also put five runs on the board in the top of the fourth inning. Ricardo Nanita and Callix Crabbe started the big inning with singles. Hechavarria drilled an RBI double to make it 6-0. d'Arnaud drove in two runs with a double before McDade launched a long home run to center to put the Fisher Cats up 10-0 ending the night for Erie starter Mark Sorensen (6-4).

Erie (32-34) scored its only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. Francisco Martinez singled and went to moved to third on a single by Rawley Bishop which was misplayed in right. He scored on a foul sacrifice fly by Michael Bertram.

The Fisher Cats hit two more home runs in the top of the fifth inning. Ricardo Nanita and Callix Crabbe added solo shots off Erie reliever Robbie Weinhardt.

McDade's second home run of the game and ninth of the season capped a five RBI night in the top of the 6th inning and gave the Fisher Cats a 14-1 lead.

Matt Daly, B. J. LaMura and Clint Everts each worked a scoreless inning in relief for New Hampshire.

The Fisher Cats conclude the series and the roadtrip on Sunday in Erie, Pennsylvania. RHP Joel Carreno (5-4, 3.22) starts for New Hampshire. Erie counters with LHP Ramon Garcia (1-2, 6.61). Game time is 1:05pm and radio coverage on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Bob Lipman begins at 12:45pm.
