
Mills Sparks Aeros' Comeback Win

AKRON, OH - Beau Mills broke a 4-4 tie with a two-RBI double in the bottom of the seventh inning that proved to be the game-winning hit as the Akron Aeros won game two of a three-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs 9-4 Saturday at Canal Park.
Right-hander Caleb Clay allowed the Mills double and suffered the loss for Portland pitching four innings, giving up six earned runs on eight hits, walking two and striking out five.
Right-handed pitcher Paolo Espino pitched five scoreless innings of relief to pick up the win for the Aeros scattering two hits, walking two and striking out three. Left-hander T.J. McFarland got the start for the Aeros lasting two innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits, walking one and striking out two.
The Sea Dogs (22-43) scored first in the top of the second inning. Tim Federowicz singled to open the inning and scored on a Reynaldo Rodriguez triple to make it 1-0. Jorge Padron singled home Rodriguez to give Portland a 2-0 lead. Oscar Tejeda and Vladimir Frias followed with back-to-back singles to load the bases. Padron came home to score on a Drew Dominguez ground out to increase the lead to 3-0. Later in the frame, Alex Hassan singled home Frias to give Portland a 4-0 lead.
The Aeros (33-36) cut into the Sea Dogs lead in the second, third and fourth innings. With one out in the second, Juan Diaz singled and scored on a Chun Chen triple to cut the deficit to 4-1. In the bottom of the third inning, Tim Fedroff tripled with one out and scored on a Jason Donald groundout to make it 4-2. Miguel Gonzalez balked home an Aeros run in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 4-3.
The Aeros took the lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, Kyle Bellows hit a ground-rule double that hopped into the right field bleachers. Following a fly out, Fedroff singled home Bellows to tie the game 4-4. Fedroff advanced to third on a Donald single. Mills followed with a two-RBI double to give the Aeros a 6-4 lead. Following an intentional walk, Diaz capped the inning with a three-run home run as the Aeros went on to the win.
The Aeros and Sea Dogs will play the rubber match of this three-game set Sunday. Akron will give the ball to left-handed pitcher Kelvin De La Cruz, who is 4-4 with a 4.14 ERA in 2011. He will face right-hander Stephen Fife, who is 7-3 with a 3.10 ERA this season. First pitch is at 1:05 p.m. The game can be heard on Fox Sports 1350 AM or online at sportsradio1350.com. Sunday is also Sunday Family FUNday featuring fun for the entire family throughout the game. The game will include a pre-game pirate treasure hunt, which is free to all Orbit's Future Stars Kids Club Members. The treasure hunt begins at 11:30 a.m. Come dressed as a pirate and enjoy all sorts of swash-buckling activities. The first 1,000 guys through the turnstiles Sunday will receive an Aeros tie.
Aeros Fans will have the opportunity to bid on special game-worn powder blue jerseys the Aeros will be wearing on Sunday. The jerseys will be autographed and presented to the top bidders immediately following the game. Auction proceeds benefit prostate cancer awareness.
