Fisher Cats Drop SeaWolves 14-1

The SeaWolves suffered their most lopsided loss of the season on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park by a 14-1 mark to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

The Fisher Cats struck first in the top of the first inning against Erie starter Mark Sorensen. Adeiny Hechavarria led off and reached on an error and stole second. Anthony Gose walked and Travis d'Arnaud singled home Hechavarria for a 1-0 lead. Mike McDade doubled home Goose and d'Arnaud for a 3-0 edge. Danny Pearles homered to right completing a five-run inning for New Hampshire.

The 'Cats extended the lead to 10-0 in the top of the fourth. Ricardo Nanita led off and singled and with one out, Callix Crabbe singled putting runners on the corners. Hechavarria doubled home Nanita bringing home the sixth run. A two-run d'Arnaud double and a two-run home from McDade made it a 10-run lead for the Fisher Cats.

Erie's lone run came in the last of the fourth off of New Hampshire starter Chad Beck. Francisco Martinez led off with a single and moved into scoring position on a Rawley Bishop base hit. Martinez moved to third on an error and scored on a Michael Bertram sacrifice fly making it 10-1. The 'Wolves would get no closer.

In the fifth, Nanita and Crabbe each connected on solo home runs off of reliever Robbie Weinhardt to put the Fisher Cats ahead 12-1.

In the sixth, d'Arnaud reached on a hit by a pitch and McDade connected on his second home run of the night, a two-run blast off of Luis Marte making it 14-1.

Sorensen (6-4) took the loss allowing a season-high 10 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits with a walk and two strikeouts.

The SeaWolves look to avoid a sweep on Sunday afternoon against the Fisher Cats.1:05 First Pitch. LHP Ramon Garcia (1-2, 6.61 ERA) takes the mound for the SeaWolves against RHP Joel Carreno (5-4, 3.22 ERA).
