CURVE, PA - Harrisburg infielder K.J Harrison hit his 10th home run of the season and third in the last two games to fuel the Senators offensive onslaught in a 9-3 defeat of Altoona on Saturday night.
The Senators scored three runs on five hits in the first inning off Curve starter Jeff Passantino. Cole Freeman, Gage Canning, and Nick Banks opened the game with three straight singles before scoring later in the frame to make it 3-0.
Harrison and Gilbert Lara both hit solo home runs in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 5-0. Back-to-back doubles from Rhett Wiseman and Jake Alu in the fifth made it a 6-0 game and ended the outing for Passantino. In his first start since returning from the injured list, Passantino allowed six runs on nine hits with four strikeouts.
Harrisburg brought three runners across the plate in the seventh off reliever Oddy Nunez. Banks hit a two RBI double into right field and scored on an Alu single. Nunez allowed the three runs in 2.1 innings of work with four strikeouts and a walk. Cam Alldred tossed two scoreless innings without allowing a hit to close the game for Altoona.
The Curve got the offense going in the sixth inning after a lead-off triple from Ji-Hwan Bae. Bae scored as the next batter Diego Castillo knocked a single into right off starter Jackson Tetreault. Tetreault allowed one run in six innings to earn the win.
Solo home runs in the seventh and eighth from Daniel Amaral and Bae made up the three runs for Altoona. It was the sixth shot for Amaral and fourth for Bae on the season. Bae's two extra-base hits gave him his fifth multi-hit game of the season. Carlos Navas allowed the two home runs in two innings of relief before a scoreless ninth inning from Frankie Bartow.
The Curve and Senators conclude their series on Sunday night at 6:00 p.m. Sunday is Old Tyme Baseball Day at the PNG Field, presented by the PA Railroaders Museum, with post-game Fireworks presented by Quality Inn & Suites. RHP Trey McGough (3-2, 3.72) will start for Altoona, with Harrisburg's starter yet to be announced.
