
Senators Split Twinbill with Bowie

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg Senators and Bowie Baysox split a doubleheader Saturday night at Commerce Bank Park. The Senators won Game 1 by a 4-2 tally; they lost the nightcap, 8-3.
In Game 1, RHP Jordan Zimmermann kept the dangerous Bowie offense under wraps through five innings to pick up the win. Meanwhile, in the bottom of the 2nd, Edgardo Baez ripped a two-run triple to the gap in left-center and Garrett Guzman followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.
In the bottom of the 4th, Ofilio Castro hit a double and two batters later, Baez lined an RBI single to center to give the Senators a 4-0 advantage.
The Baysox rallied with a run in the top of the 5th on a sacrifice fly by Mike Rodriguez. In the 6th, Nolan Reimold drilled a low liner out of the park to left for a solo home run, cutting it to a 4-2 margin.
LHP Tim Bittner came on and worked a perfect 7th inning to notch the save, his fifth. Zimmermann notched the win to improve to 7-2. Bowie RHP Brad Bergesen, the Eastern League Pitcher of the Year, took the loss to fall to 15-6.
In Game 2, the Baysox jumped ahead with three runs in the top of the 1st off Harrisburg LHP Cory VanAllen. Bowie had five consecutive singles, including RBI hits by Matt Wieters, Jeff Nettles and Steve Torrealba.
The Senators came back with a run in the bottom of the 1st. Jemel Spearman ripped a leadoff single, stole second and scored when Marvin Lowrance hammered a double to right-center to cut it to 3-1.
Bowie plated another run in the top of the 2nd. Travis Brown reached on catcher's interference and later scored to make it 4-1.
Harrisburg sliced into the deficit in the bottom of the 2nd as Marco Yepez laced an RBI single and Spearman followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-3. That was as close as the Senators would get.
The Baysox pulled away when Brian Peterson singled home a run in the 3rd and Mike Rodriguez hammered a three-run homer in the 5th to expand the margin to 8-3.
VanAllen took the loss to even his record at 3-3. RHP David Hernandez (10-4) grabbed the win.
The Senators moved to 72-68. Bowie is now 83-57.
The Senators and Baysox meet again Sunday at 1:05 PM at Commerce Bank Park. Harrisburg RHP Bobby Brownlie (8-3, 3.75 ERA) faces Bowie RHP Chris Tillman (10-4, 3.17 ERA).
