New Britain, CT - Ryan Mullins saved his best performance for his final start of the year as he fired a complete game shutout to blank Binghamton, 7-0.
Mullins (9-9, 4.31) limited the B-Mets, who are battling for the final playoff spot in the Northern Division, to seven hits. He struck out seven while walking none in nine innings before a crowd of 8030, the second largest crowd in Rock Cats' history. The largest mark came earlier this season when 8,115 fans streamed through the gates.
The Rock Cats took a 2-0 lead in the first inning on back-to-back RBI doubles by Dustin Martin and Brain Dinkelman.
In the fifth, Steve Tolleson - who was named the Can't Beat Bernie's Player of the Year before to the game on Saturday night - hit solo shot of the Bernie's sign on the scoreboard to put the Rock Cats ahead, 3-0. Danny Valencia added an RBI single in the inning.
Valencia came through with another RBI single in the seventh and Martin added another RBI double to extend the lead, 7-0. Tolleson added an RBI double in the eighth inning. Martin finished the night with a game-high three hits.
Jose Sanchez (13-7, 3.83) allowed nine hits and four runs to suffer the loss.
