(Harrisburg, PA) - The Baysox and Senators split the first two games of the final series in the regular season in a doubleheader Saturday in Harrisburg. The Senators took game one 4-2 and the Baysox stole game two by a score of 8-3. Mike Rodriguez drove in four runs on the day and starter David Hernandez picked up his 10th win of the year in game two.

The Senators jumped out to an early lead in game one, scoring three runs in the bottom of the second. Marvin Lowrance led off with a walk and Ofilio Castro followed with a single to put men on first and second. With one out, the runners advanced on a wild pitch and Edgardo Baez drove them both in with a triple to left-center field. Garrett Guzman promptly plated Baez with a sacrifice fly to give the Senators a 3-0 lead.

Harrisburg added another run in the bottom of the fourth inning. With one away, Castro doubled down the left field line and Baez picked up another RBI, driving Castro in with a two-out single to make theey score 4-0 Harrisburg.

The Baysox scratched one run back in the top of the fifth when Ryan Finan led off with a double to left field. Steve Torrealba followed with a double to right, but Finan held up at third base. Mike Rodriguez drove Finan home with a sacrifice fly to center field to cut the Harrisburg lead to 4-1 before Jordan Zimmermann struck out the last two batters to end the threat.

Bowie picked up another run on a solo homerun by Nolan Reimold with one out in the top of the sixth. Bergesen worked the whole game for Bowie, allowing four runs on seven hits to earn his sixth loss of the season.

The Baysox turned the tables on the Senators in game two, jumping out to their own 3-0 lead. They did it with five singles in the top of the first inning. Carlos Rojas got things started with a one-out base hit and Nolan Reimold followed with a single of his own. Matt Wieters singled into left field, scoring Rojas and advancing Reimold to second base. Jeff Nettles plated Reimold with a base hit and it remained runners on first and second. Steve Torrealba did it again, scoring Wieters with a single up the middle before the Senators escaped the inning.

The Senators got one run back in the bottom of the first on an RBI double by Marvin Lowrance, cutting the Baysox lead to 3-1.

Bowie pushed the lead back to three in the top of the second when Travis Brown reached to lead off on catcher's interference by Javi Herrera. Carlos Rojas picked up a one-out single to put runners on first and second and Nolan Reimold drove Brown in with a base hit to left to make it 4-1 Baysox.

The Senators came back with two more runs in the bottom of the second on an RBI single by Marco Yepez and a sacrifice fly by Jemel Spearman to make the score 4-3 Bowie.

The Baysox picked up a run in the top of the third on an RBI base hit by Brian Peterson to make it 5-3. Bowie was able to break it open in the top of the fifth when Mike Rodriguez hit a three-run homerun with one out. It was the fourth homerun of the season for Rodriguez and the second in his past five games. Each were three-run shots and this one put Bowie on top 8-3.

David Hernandez left the game after the fifth inning, allowing three runs on six hits with five strikeouts to improve to 10-4 on the year. Ryan Keefer came on to work the bottom of the sixth and retired the side without allowing a hit. Wilfredo Perez came on to work the bottom of the seventh and sent the side down in order to close it out.

With the split, the Baysox move to 83-57 on the year. They will play the second-to-last game of the regular season Sunday afternoon in Harrisburg with RHP Chris Tillman (10-4, 3.17 ERA) going up against Senators RHP Bobby Brownlie (8-3, 3.75 ERA).

The Baysox have clinched home field advantage in the first series of the playoffs by winning the Southern Division title Thursday. The Baysox will host games 1 and 2 of the best-of-five series against the Akron Aeros Wednesday, September 3 and Thursday, September 4 with each game starting at 7:05 p.m. The teams will then head to Akron for game 3 and possibly game 4. Should a fifth and decisive game be necessary, it would be played back in Bowie on Sunday, September 7.

The Bowie Baysox are out to Beat The Streaks in their 16th season as the "AA" affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The Baysox have not reached the postseason since 1997 and have never reached the Eastern League Championship.
