Harrisburg Senators News Release
The slumbering Harrisburg Senators offense finally awoke on Monday night in Bowie scoring 13 runs on 15 hits in their 13-2 win over the Baysox. The Senators scored a season-high eight runs in the fifth inning off of Baysox starter Zack Britton.
Trailing 1-0 into the fifth inning, Stephen King put the Senators on the board with a bases loaded triple. Chris McConnell followed with a run scoring single to give the Sens a 4-1 lead. Then with two on and two outs, Bill Rhinehart launched a three-run home run to right, his 21st on the season to give the Sens a 7-1 lead. Not to be outdone, Tyler Moore followed with a solo home run to left, his 24th on the season to cap the Senators eight-run inning. The Senators sent 12 batters to the plate in the inning, a season high as well. Bryce Harper had two hits in the inning, both doubles.
Tanner Roark was the recipient of all the runs and showed his appreciation by going eight innings and allowing just a single unearned run. It was his longest outing this season.
Seven different Senators had two hits in the game: Derek Norris, Chris Rahl, Rhinehart, Moore, Harper, and King. Bill Rhinehart drove in three runs as did Stephen King.
Harrisburg moves to 58-45 with the win while Bowie fell to 55-45 with the loss.
Game two of the three-game series is Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Senators send RH Erik Davis to the mound against LH Rick Zagone for Bowie. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
