
Senators Fall To Curve, 7-4

Harrisburg, PA - The Harrisburg fell behind early against the Altoona Curve and never recovered Saturday night, losing 7-4 at Commerce Bank Park.
The Curve jumped out to a big early lead. Shelby Ford led off the game with a triple down the right-field line and two batters later, Jim Negrych hit a bloop RBI single to right to make it 1-0. Jamie Romak followed with an RBI double to give Altoona a 2-0 advantage.
In the top of the 2nd, Ford drilled a two-run homer to extend the Curve lead to 4-0.
The Senators clawed back into the game in the bottom of the 5th. Ofilio Castro led off with a double and scored when Marvin Lowrance followed with an RBI single to cut it to 4-1. Harrisburg had multiple opportunities to score more in the inning, but fell short.
In the 6th, Seth Bynum led off with a single. Two batters later, Castro singled and Lowrance singled Bynum home to cut it to 4-2. Garrett Guzman came off the bench with an RBI sacrifice fly to make it a 4-3 game.
The Curve tacked on an insurance run in the top of the 8th. James Boone smacked a leadoff triple and Steve Lerud lined an RBI single to extend the margin to 5-3.
Altoona put it away in the top of the 9th. Negrych clubbed a leadoff double and two batters later Jonel Pacheco hit a two-run homer to left-center to make it 7-3.
The Senators finished the scoring in the bottom of the 9th as Jemel Spearman hit a solo homer to cut it to 7-4.
LHP Cory VanAllen took the loss for the Senators, falling to 3-2. Altoona LHP Kyle Bloom snagged the win to up his record to 3-7.
The Senators dipped to 65-56. Altoona improved to 55-67.
The Senators and Curve finish the five-game series Sunday at 1:05 PM. Harrisburg sends RHP Bobby Brownlie (8-2, 3.67 ERA) to the mound against Altoona RHP Jared Hughes (1-1, 4.91 ERA).
