August 9, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

The Binghamton Mets hit a pair of homers, but the New Hampshire Fisher Cats went deep four times for a 5-3 win at NYSEG Stadium Saturday. Binghamton's lost two in a row.

New Hampshire (52-69) never trailed after back-to-back solo homers by Eric Nielsen and J.P. Arencibia off Mike Antonini in the first. However, Binghamton (63-59) tied it in the third, thanks to Fernando Martinez's two-run homer off Robert Ray, scoring Salomon Manriquez, who'd reached on an error.

After the Fisher Cats went ahead on Ryan Patterson's solo homer in the fourth, Shawn Bowman knotted the score again with a solo shot to left.

Andrew Pinckney hit a go-ahead, two-run blast in the ninth off Joe Hietpas (1-4).

New Hampshire's Seth Overbey (3-2) got the final four outs for the win.

Sunday, the Binghamton Mets play the final game of a four-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Tobi Stoner (4-4, 3.96) will start for Binghamton against Marty McLeary (0-0, 14.73) of New Hampshire. First pitch is scheduled for 1:05 p.m. at NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast beginning at 12:50 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.

Notes: Fernando Martinez has homered in three straight games, becoming the first B-Mets player to accomplish that feat since Aarom Baldiris 8/20-22/05...Antonini becomes the second B-Mets starter to allow three homers (Jose Sanchez, 4/25 @ POR). It's the fifth time this year Binghamton pitchers have allowed four longballs.
