Senators Drop Series Opener to Bowie 6-2

On Friday night the Senators watched Bowie rally for four ninth-inning runs and beat the Sens 6-2. For the second time this season the Senators have dropped consecutive games. Harrisburg falls to 13-8 with the loss while Bowie improves 8-13 with the win.

The teams traded single runs in the fourth and seventh innings to create the 2-2 tie. Brandon Waring homered in the fourth for Bowie, but Tim Pahuta doubled in Destin Hood to tie the game in the bottom of the fourth. In the seventh, Bowie scored a run on back-to-back doubles but the Sens came right back when Chris McConnell drove in the tying run with a ground out in the bottom of the seventh inning.

It stayed 2-2 into the ninth when Bowie erupted for four runs to break the game open and make a winner out of Pat Egan.

Mike Ballard started for the Senators and pitched 5.2 innings allowing just four hits and a run. Pat McCoy went an inning and allowed a hit and a run. Marcos Frias took the loss, pitched 2.1 innings and allowing five hits and all four runs in the ninth.

Tim Pahuta had three hits in the game to extend his hitting streak to nine games. Destin Hood and Sandy Leon both chipped in with two hits.

Game two of the three-game series is Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. with RH Paul Demny on the hill for the Senators against RH Bobby Bundy for Bowie. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website and through iHeart Radio which is available on all mobile devices, beginning at 6:40 p.m.
