Harrisburg Senators News Release
Norwich, CT - The Connecticut Defenders ripped the Harrisburg Senators, 11-4 Saturday night at Dodd Stadium in Norwich. The Defenders pounded out 15 hits.
The Senators took the first lead of the game as Garrett Guzman doubled to start the game. Two batters later, Roger Bernadina hit an RBI groundout to make it 1-0.
Connecticut rattled off six unanswered runs, including a three-run 2nd inning. Jake Wald tripled home a pair of runs and pitcher Garrett Broshuis singled through a drawn-in infield to give the Defenders a 3-1 advantage.
As the Defenders got the bats going, Broshuis retired 15 straight Senators. He picked up the victory to move to move to 4-4 on the season.
Harrisburg plated a run in the 7th on a two-out RBI single by Ian Desmond. In the 9th, back-to-back doubles by Andrew LeFave and Ofilio Castro made it 11-4.
RHP Tristan Crawford absorbed the loss to fall to 1-2 on the season.
The Senators dipped to 29-17. Connecticut upped its record to 22-24.
The series continues Sunday in Norwich at 1:05 PM. RHP Beltran Perez draws the spot start for Harrisburg.
