
Christensen Strong in Erie Victory

The SeaWolves snapped a two-game slide on Saturday night at Canal Park with a 5-1 win over the Akron Aeros in game two of a four game series.
The âWolves broke through in a scoreless game in the top of the third inning. Ryan Roberson and Deik Scram connected on back-to-back singles to start the inning. A fielder's choice off the bat of Kody Kirkland moved Roberson to third as the Aeros retired Scram at second. Max Leon followed with a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Roberson, for a 1-0 Erie lead.
In the top of the seventh, Erie would add to the lead. Scram walked with one out and Kirkland singled to put a pair on. After a Leon struckout, Danny Worth doubled off the wall in left to score a pair of runs, giving Erie a 3-0 lead.
The Aeros got on the board in the bottom of the seventh. Nathan Panther led off with a double and later scored on a Jose Constanza base hit for the only Akron run of the game.
Danny Christensen (1-4) tossed his best outing of the season in picking up his first win. He went a season-best seven innings, allowing a run on six hits with four walks and two strikeouts.
In the eighth and ninth innings Erie added a pair of insurance runs to go ahead 5-1. In the eighth with one out, Dusty Ryan connected on a solo home run, his seventh. In the ninth, Scram connected on a leadoff double, his third hit of the game. Kirkland laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Scram over to third. Leon followed with a single up the middle to score Scram.
Relievers Casey Fien and Juan Cedeno combined to hold the Aeros scoreless in the final two innings.
The âWolves defense did not commit an error for the fourth straight game, a season-high.
