Binghamton Rumble Ponies News Release

Ambiorix Concepcion hit a go-ahead homer in the fourth and Caleb Stewart went deep in the fifth, helping the Binghamton Mets to an 8-5 win over the Reading Phillies at NYSEG Stadium Saturday. Binghamton has won two straight and 10 of 12.

The B-Mets (24-23) went ahead with two out in the second. Two batters after Mike Carp singled off Andrew Carpenter, Emmanuel Garcia doubled to left to bring Carp in. Garcia scored on Rafael Arroyo's base hit to center for a 2-0 Binghamton lead.

Reading (19-27) took the lead in the third off Bobby Parnell. After Jason Donald doubled in a run, Lou Marson hit a go-ahead two-run single in the third for a 3-2 Phillies advantage. Jeremy Slayden's solo homer off Parnell (4-3) in the fourth made it 4-2.

Binghamton rallied to reclaim the lead for good in the fourth. Stewart led off with a single before Carpenter (2-6) walked Carp. Concepcion followed with a three-run homer to left for a 5-4 B-Mets lead. Stewart put the B-Mets ahead 7-4 in the fifth with a two-run homer that scored Jose Coronado, who'd reached with a single.

After Neil Sellers' pinch-hit homer in the seventh got Reading within two runs, Binghamton tacked on another insurance run in the eighth. Stewart drew a one-out walk and moved to third on a throwing error before Carp singled him home.

Tim Lavigne worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the ninth to record his second save in as many chances.

Sunday, the Binghamton Mets play the third game of a four-game series against the Reading Phillies. Salvador Aguilar (4-0, 3.05) will start for the B-Mets against Carlos Carrasco (3-4, 3.44) of Reading. The first pitch is slated for 6:35 p.m. at NYSEG Stadium with the radio broadcast starting at 6:20 on Newsradio 1290 WNBF.
