Harrisburg Senators News Release

Jesus Valdez tripled, drove in three runs, and scored the game-winning run, as the Harrisburg Senators notched a come-from-behind 5-4 victory over the Reading Phillies on Tuesday evening at Metro Bank Park. The Senators (18-20) are now 7-0 against Reading (15-22) on the season.

Valdez' triple came in the seventh inning, and tied the score at four, as Josh Johnson and Danny Espinosa scored. Chris Marrero followed that up, after an out, with a single that drove home Valdez, and put the Senators in front 5-4. The winning run came against reliever Tyson Brummett, who took the loss to fall to 0-1 on the season.

Erik Arnesen (2-2) earned the win for the Senators, and pitched very well in the latter part of his outing. In his seven innings, he allowed three runs, all three of which scored in the first three innings. He also struck out five and walked one. Mike MacDougal threw a perfect ninth inning to record his first save of the year.

Marrero and Michael Martinez each finished with two hits, with Martinez also scoring a run. Espinosa added a hit and two runs scored. Valdez' other RBI came in the third inning, when a groundout drove in Espinosa after he had tripled earlier in the inning. That run cut an early deficit to 3-1.

The win was the sixth in the last seven games for the Senators, and put them two games short of .500. Game two of the three-game series is set for Wednesday night at 7 PM, with Brad Meyers (1-0, 0.00) on the mound for the Senators. Yohan Flande (2-3, 2.55) gets the start for Reading. Radio coverage begins at 6:45 PM, and airs on 1460 AM The Ticket and www.senatorsbaseball.com.
