Senators, Aeros Washed Out Friday
April 4, 2008 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators and Akron Aeros are locked in what may be one of the longest stalemates in baseball history. The Senators and Aeros suspended their season-opening game last night in a 5-5 tie. The resumption of that game has been pushed back to Saturday, April 5 at 5:05 PM due to rain and wet grounds on Harrisburg's City Island. A full nine-inning game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game on Saturday, but will not start before 6:05 PM. "Friday Night Fireworks on Saturday" will light up the skies following Saturday's games, presented by WINK-104. Also, the first 1,000 kids aged 12 and under receive caps, sponsored by Pepsi.
The season opener, which started Thursday night, was suspended after nine full innings due to wet grounds. When the game resumes, Akron's Michael Aubrey is set to lead off the top of the 10th inning.
Harrisburg RHP Shairon Martis is slated to face Akron LHP David Huff in the second game.
The Senators and Aeros will play a single game Sunday at 1:05 PM and a doubleheader on Tuesday, May 27th at 5:05 PM at Commerce Bank Park.
Tickets to Friday's game can be exchanged for tickets to any home game for the remainder of the 2008 season. Fans with tickets to Saturday's game can watch both games at no extra charge.
Friday's fleece blanket giveaway has been reset for Saturday, April 19th at 6:05 PM. The first 1,000 adults aged 13 & over will receive a fleece blanket while the first 1,000 kids 12 & under will receive baseball card sheets.
The Senators continue their opening homestand Monday at 6:05 PM when the Erie SeaWolves (Double-A Detroit Tigers) come to Commerce Bank Park. Seniors aged 60 and over can purchase reserved seats for $4 and general admission seats for $2. The Senators finish the homestand Wednesday, April 9th at 12:05 PM. Fans receive a $2 discount on tickets by presenting their business card with the Business Person Special presented by WHP Talk Radio 580.
