(Peterborough, ON) - The Peterborough Petes will kick off their 2019-20 home season, presented by Tim Hortons, on Thursday, October 17 at 7:05pm against the east division rival Hamilton Bulldogs after playing nine road games to a record of 6-3-0-0 to open the season. Some regular bowl tickets remain, while Family Zone seating is extremely limited. Fans are encouraged to take advantage of the Season Starter Pack to secure their seats.
The game, which will mark the home ice debut for 2019 OHL Priority Selection picks Mason McTavish, J.R. Avon, Artem Guryev, and Tucker Robertson, is sponsored by Extra 90.5 FM. The local sports talk station will be hosting their pre-game tailgate show in front of the Peterborough Memorial Centre as doors open.
The Home Opener pre-game ceremony will include an 'in memoriam' feature and an introduction of the of the 2019-20 Peterborough Petes. The first 500 fans to arrive will receive Petes illuminated noisemakers to help cheer on the mighty maroon and white who will be clad in their home whites for the first time this season.
There's lots to cheer for as, in addition to a great road start, multiple Petes are atop statistical OHL leaderboards. Nick Robertson leads the league in goals (11) and is third in points (18), while Semyon Der-Arguchintsev leads in assists (16) and is fifth in points (18). Hunter Jones is the league's fourth ranked netminder with 6 wins, a 2.75 goals against average, and 0.909 save percentage. Among league rookies, Mason McTavish is second in goals (6) and third in points (9).
Tickets for Thursday's game and all regular season home games are available through the PMC Grant Thornton Box Office in person and over the phone at (705) 743-3561 Monday to Friday from 9:30am to 5:00pm, and 24 hours a day online.
