(Windsor, ON) - Rookie forward Wyatt Johnston is among 66 players that will compete at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge next month, Hockey Canada has announced.

The tournament, set for November 2nd to 9th in Medicine Hat, Alberta and Swift Current, Saskatchewan, features three Canadian teams - Team Canada Black, Red and White - along with the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States.

Johnston, 16, was the club's first-round selection (#6 overall) in the 2019 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. Through the opening weeks of the season, he's appeared in seven of the first nine games, registering his first OHL goal and a +1 rating.

A 6'0, 167-pound native of Toronto, Johnston posted 48 goals and 46 assists in 73 games with the Toronto Marlboros Minor Midgets during the 2018-19 season and another 13 points ( five goals, eight assists) in five games of OHL Gold Cup action.
