October 16, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release

This past Thanksgiving Monday, the Kitchener Rangers once again partnered with The Food Bank of Waterloo Region for its Food Bank Kitchener Rangers Game Day.

Altogether, 1,762 pounds of non-perishable food items and $2,570.55 in cash donations was collected from fans upon entry to The Aud. This equates to 9,088 total meals for those in need throughout Waterloo Region - which is a significant increase from last year's collection.

Hunger doesn't discriminate, with the fact that as many as 1-in-20 households in our community need food support.

Every dollar donated will provide food for three meals and help support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region Onkel Hans Food Drive.

If you were not able to support The Food Bank of Waterloo Region at the game, you are still encouraged to donate online or at multiple locations in the community. More information can be found at www.thefoodbank.ca.

The Rangers and The Food Bank of Waterloo Region will also team-up for the annual Rangers Classroom Food Drive Challenge on Tuesday November 26th.

The elementary school that raises the most food per student will get the opportunity to send one class to The Food Bank of Waterloo Region where they will help sort food, tour the facility, and learn about local food insecurity. They will also enjoy a pizza lunch as well as a visit from the Kitchener Rangers.
