Allan McShane and Serron Noel to Play for Team OHL in the CIBC Canada Russia Series

Oshawa, ON - The Ontario Hockey League, in collaboration with the Canadian Hockey League and Hockey Canada, today announced the Team OHL rosters for the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series.

Generals Allan McShane and Serron Noel have been named to Team OHL's roster for the CIBC Canada Russia Series. Noel will dress for Team OHL's games in Kitchener (Thursday, November 7th) and London (Monday, November 12th), while McShane will only be in the line up for the game in London.

Noel, the Ottawa, ON native, is in his fourth season with the Generals, finishing third in team scoring. Last season he amassed a total of 81 points (34 goals, 47 assists) in 68 games, establishing himself as a power forward and one of the fastest players in the Ontario Hockey League in the process. Drafted in the second round (34th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, the 6'5, 210-pound forward attended the Panthers Development Camp following the draft and was invited to training camp last September. He signed an entry-level deal with the club in March of 2019. He attended Florida's Development and Training this past summer, before being returned to the Generals. This season, Noel got a late start but that didn't stop his point production as he has totalled five points in four games.

Internationally, Noel has played for Canada's National Men's Under-18 Team at the 2018 IIHF U18 World Championship, and won a gold medal with Canada's National Men's Summer Under-18 Team at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Cup. He also played for Team Canada Red at the 2016 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. This summer he was invited to Hockey Canada's National Junior Team's Summer Selection Camp. He has previously represented Team OHL last year at the CIBC Canada Russia Series before being named to the team this season.

Drafted in the fourth round, (97th overall) in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, McShane attended the Canadiens rookie camp immediately following the draft and their main camp in September before being returned to the Generals. The Collingwood, ON native is in his fourth Ontario Hockey League season. Last season he finished with career best numbers appearing in 62 games recording 34 goals, 35 assists for 69 points. To begin this season, McShane has is currently sitting second in team scoring with 13 points in nine games.

On an international stage, McShane has played for Team Canada twice in his OHL career, first at the U17 Hockey Challenge suiting up with Team Canada Black earning a silver medal and leading the team in scoring. He has played for Canada at the U18 World Championships, again leading the team in scoring at the tournament. Before playing in the OHL, McShane represented Canada as a Youth Olympian in Norway winning a silver medal. He also was an attendee of Hockey Canada's National Junior Team's Summer Selection Camp this past August.

A total of 25 players have been selected to represent the OHL in the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series including 15 players who will compete in both Ontario games. The rosters feature 20 players who have been selected in the NHL Draft including first round picks Ty Dellandrea (Dallas Stars, 13th in 2018) of the Flint Firebirds, Liam Foudy (Columbus Blue Jackets, 18th in 2018) of the London Knights, Thomas Harley (Dallas Stars, 18th in 2019) of the Mississauga Steelheads, Ryan Merkley (San Jose Sharks, 21st in 2018) of the London Knights, Philip Tomasino (Nashville Predators, 24th in 2019) of the Niagara IceDogs, Connor McMichael (Washington Capitals, 25th in 2019) of the London Knights and Ryan Suzuki (Carolina Hurricanes, 28th in 2019) of the Barrie Colts. Four players who are first time eligible for the NHL Draft in 2020 have also been named to the roster including forwards Quinton Byfield of the Sudbury Wolves and Cole Perfetti of the Saginaw Spirit along with defencemen Jamie Drysdale of the Erie Otters and Ryan O'Rourke of the Soo Greyhounds.

Team OHL rosters were assembled by a Selection Committee that includes Hockey Canada Program of Excellence National Junior Team manager Mark Hunter of the London Knights, Owen Sound Attack general manager Dale DeGray and Ottawa 67's general manager James Boyd in consultation with Hockey Canada head scout Brad McEwen.

In 16 years of competition against the Russian National Junior Team, the OHL has played to a record of 25-6-1 following a 3-1 win in Sarnia and a 4-0 loss in Oshawa last season.
