Brampton Steelheads News Release

Mississauga, ON - The Canadian Hockey League, in association with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and Western Hockey League, and in collaboration with Hockey Canada, announced the rosters for the 2019 CIBC Canada Russia Series.

70 CHL players will compete among the three regional league teams while auditioning for a role on Canada's National Junior Team for the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship. Team QMJHL, OHL, and WHL will each play twice against the Russian National Junior Team November 4-14 with games scheduled in Saint John, Moncton, Kitchener, London, Saskatoon, and Prince Albert. Among those selected from the Ontario Hockey League was Mississauga Steelheads defenceman Thomas Harley.

Harley isn't new to representing Canada. The 6'3" defenceman first competed for the red and white at the 2018 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Saint John, New Brunswick where he appeared in 5 games. Leading up to the 2019 NHL Draft, Harley was selected to play for Team Canada at the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 World Championship where he registered 4 points (1G, 3A) in 7 games. The 2019 CIBC Canada/Russia Series will mark the second time Harley will play in the event, as he was selected to play for Team OHL in 2018.

Since Harley's return, the Dallas Stars prospect has picked up where he left off last season recording a point in all 6 games he's played and accumulated 10 points (3G, 7A) over that span. Harley will add the 2019 CIBC Canada/Russia Series to his growing list of accolades and begin preparing for the 2020 IIHF World Hockey Championship with the hopes of representing Team Canada in Ostrava, Czech Republic.
