HEAD-TO-HEAD
Last Matchup:
Ottawa last made trip to Kitchener on November 21st, where the Rangers dropped a 5-3 decision in regulation. Now former Rangers, Jakub Chromiak struck first with a power-play goal, while Mathew Hlacar and Christian Humphreys also featured on the scoresheet for the Blueshirts.
Over the Years:
Saturday's clash is the second and final meeting between Kitchener and Ottawa this season. Last year, the teams met twice, with the Rangers winning both games and posting a 2-0-0-0 record. These two teams have only met seven times over the past five seasons with Kitchener holding the edge, winning on four occasions.
RANGERS ROUND UP (36-12-4-1)
The Kitchener Rangers earned another statement win on last night, defeating the Kingston Frontenacs 4-2. The victory keeps their road trip moving in the right direction as they hold firm in the Western Conference's top spot with 77 points.
Christian Humphreys and Jack Pridham once again led the way. Scoring the opening two goals. Pridham added two assists, while Humphreys picked up one. Cameron Arquette and Gabriel Chiarot both found the back of the net in a dominant second period. Kingston responded with two goals, but it wasn't enough to catch the Rangers.
Drafted Rangers:
The Kitchener Rangers have a loaded roster of NHL drafted talent. Among twelve players drafted to the NHL, five were selected in the 2025 NHL Draft: Gabriel Chiarot (Vancouver Canucks), Matthew Hlacar (Toronto Maple Leafs), Andrew MacNiel (Montreal Canadians), Cameron Reid (Nashville Predators), and Luca Romano (New York Islanders). The other six players were taken in 2024: Luke Ellinas (Ottawa Senators), Christian Humphreys (Colorado Avalanche), Christian Kirsch (San Jose Sharks), Sam O'Reilly (Tampa Bay Lightning via EDM), Jack Pridham (Chicago Blackhawks), and Jared Woolley (Los Angeles Kings). Matthew Andonovski (Ottawa Senators) was selected in 2023.
SCOUTING THE OTTAWA 67'S (38-11-1-2)
The Ottawa 67's lead the Eastern Conference with 79 points but have the Brantford Bulldogs just one point behind them with a game in hand, adding even more weight to tonight's matchup as they take on the top-ranked Rangers from the Western Conference.
February 12th was the day when the Peterborough Petes halted Ottawa's three-game winning streak with a 7-3 victory. Newly acquired forward Nicholas Sima, acquired from the Saginaw Spirit, opened the scoring in Thursday's contest and now sits at 33 points on the season (15G, 18A). Filip Ekberg and Brayden Krawczyk were responsible for the other two goals.
Drafted 67's:
The Ottawa 67's boast four NHL prospects on their roster. Filip Ekberg (Carolina Hurricanes) and David Bedkowski (Buffalo Sabres) were selected in the 2025 NHL Draft, while Sam McCue (Toronto Maple Leafs) heard his name called in 2024. Cooper Foster (Pittsburgh Penguins) was selected in 2023.
