Last Game:

The Spirit used their highest offensive output of the season to beat the Sarnia Sting 11-3 on Friday night. Egor Barabanov had six points (1G-5A), becoming the first Spirit player since Owen Beck (Jan 10, 2024 vs WSR) to register six points in a single game. Dima Zhilkin (3G-1A) and Brody Pepoy (3G) each notched hat tricks and Kaleb Papineau made 29 saves in Saginaw's third win in their last four games.

Windsor also beat the Sting in their last game, a 6-4 victory on home ice on February 12th. Ethan Belchetz scored twice, including the game-winning powerplay goal. Jack Nesbitt had a goal and an assist, while Michael Newlove made 18 saves for Windsor's 34th victory of the season.

This Season:

Home ice has been key to this point in the season series between the Spirit and Spitfires, which sees its final installments tonight in Saginaw and Monday afternoon in Windsor. The Spirit are 4-2-0-0 against the Spitfires this season, including a perfect 3-0-0-0 at the Dow Event Center. Most recently, Dima Zhilkin scored a late equalizer on January 10th before Carson Harmer secured a 3-2 overtime win.

Players to Watch:

Nikita Klepov has the most points in the season series between these two West Division opponents (3G-5A-8P) through six games. He was one of five players with at least four points in last night's win against the Sting (1G-3A) and it was his fifth four-point night this season. Klepov has 12 points (3G-9A) in an ongoing four-game point streak. He leads OHL rookies in scoring this season (31G-43A-74P) and sits just two points behind Nathan Aspinall's 76 points for the league lead.

Overage defenseman James Guo had the first four-point night of his career against the Sting (1G-3A) on Friday. He's also found a lot of offense against the Spitfires this season, with a goal and four assists in six meetings. Guo is Saginaw's most seasoned veteran, with 277 OHL games. With 31 points this season (6G-25A) Guo is four points from setting a new career high (34pts, 2024-25).

Saginaw's NHL-Drafted Players: Jacob Cloutier (WPG)

Center Nathan Villeneuve leads the Spitfires in scoring this season with 59 points (21G-38A) in 42 games. Fifteen of those points (5G-10A) have come in his 14 games as a Spitfire since arriving in a trade from the Sudbury Wolves. Villeneuve is recently off an eight-game point streak (2G-10A-12P). He's found the scoresheet in ten of his 14 Windsor games.

Ethan Belchetz enters Saturday's game on a five-game scoring streak (3G-6A-9P). He scored twice against the Sting on Thursday night and leads the Spitfires in scoring against Saginaw this season with seven points (4G-3A) in six games. He was held off the scoresheet in their most recent meeting (Jan 10.), but had two goals against the Spirit on December 31st.

Windsor's NHL-Drafted Players: Jakub Fibigr (SEA), AJ Spellacy (CHI), Liam Greentree (NYR), Jack Nesbitt (PHI), Alex Pharand (CHI), Nathan Villeneuve (SEA)
